Chase DeLauter Undergoes Surgery on Hand, Out 6-8 Weeks
Chase DeLauter (hand) visited wrist/hand specialist Dr. Thomas Graham in Philadelphia on Tuesday, and, after undergoing an MRI on his ailing right hand, it was determined that he had a hook of the hamate fracture. The Guardians' second-ranked prospect underwent surgery on Wednesday, and recovery time is typically 6-to-8 weeks, which at the low end would leave the door open for a late-season return, but would basically end his season if it ends up being on the high end. It's yet another injury-plagued season for the oft-injured 23-year-old, and if he's played his last game of 2025, it would result in a .278/.383/.476 slash line with five home runs and a 22:23 BB:K in 34 games at Triple-A Columbus. The former first-rounder should be fully recovered by the spring and make a push for an MLB debut next year.
