Chase Anderson Provides Solid Ratios
7 years agoChase Anderson missed roughly two months in 2017 due to a left oblique strain, limiting his season to 141 innings. Actually, Anderson has never pitched over 152 innings in a season. In 2017, he had a 2.74 earned run average, but also had a 3.58 fielding independent pitching. The Brewers’ offseason additions will help their defense and hopefully keep Anderson’s ERA low. Anderson did not overwhelm batters with velocity, but he did improve his fastball velocity from 91 to 93mph. He provided a better than league average K/9 (8.47), which is also the highest of his career. His overall success was attributed to his control of a four-pitch mix. He also had a very good 2.61 BB/9. In the second half, Anderson demonstrated he could continue the success he had prior to his injury, posting a 2.47 ERA. Anderson is being drafted near the 14th round; do not go much higher to get him. Expect there will be some regression in ERA and potentially strikeouts. If you can get your strikeouts elsewhere, Anderson will provide the ratios for a very good staff.
