Charlie Morton To Receive A Little Extra Rest
3 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton will no longer pitch in the second game of the team's doubleheader on Wednesday against the San Diego Padres, with Bryse Wilson going instead in the nightcap. The 37-year-old right-hander will now take the series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. Morton's last start came last Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays, when he allowed three runs while striking out eight in six innings of a no-decision. There's nothing physically wrong with Morton, so he should be started in season-long leagues. In three starts against Philly in 2021, Morton has a 3.09 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 13 strikeouts and five walks over 11 2/3 frames.
