Carlos Carrasco Scheduled To Make Rehab Start Sunday
2 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (elbow) is tentatively scheduled to make his next minor-league rehab start on Sunday, May 14, before rejoining the Mets' starting rotation. He allowed a run over three innings for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday. Between the start and a 46-pitch bullpen session, coaches were "very upbeat" about how he felt and pitched. Carrasco's bone spur in his right elbow could eventually require surgery, but in the short term he received a cortisone injection and restarted a throwing program the week of April 24. Barring a setback over the weekend, the 36-year-old veteran right-hander should be back in New York's rotation next week. He's sporting an 8.56 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with eight strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings over his first three starts, and Carrasco will be a very risky fantasy play in his first start back.
