Carlos Carrasco, Dominic Smith Absent Monday
4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco and first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith were among four players that were absent from the team's first full-squad spring training workout due to a "non-injury-related issue," according to manager Luis Rojas. However, all four players should be at camp by the end of the week. This should be a non-issue. Carrasco had a 2.91 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in his return from a battle with Leukemia last year with Cleveland. If he pitches similarly to what he did in his final season with the Tribe, he'll be a fine SP2 target for fantasy managers. Smith, who slashed .316/.377/.616 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI in just 177 at-bats in 2020, should see more playing time in 2021 and is an intriguing power bat that can also hit for average in a much-improved Mets batting order.
