Cardinals Talks With Yadier Molina Have Slowed
4 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals would like to keep "legacy players" in catcher Yadier Molina and starting pitcher Adam Wainwright, but talks with both franchise icons have screeched to a halt lately. Molina is seeking a two-year deal and it's still likely that the Cardinals can bridge the current gap to re-sign the future Hall of Fame backstop. But teams such as the Angels, Yankees and Padres are believed to be looking for catching help and could pry Molina away from the only team he's called home. The Mets were previously interested in the 38-year-old veteran, but they took care of their catching needs by adding James McCann. Molina is still an excellent defender but isn't the same threat he was with the bat in his prime.
