Unsigned free agent Cam Newton is in a precarious position. He is a former MVP who has dealt with a litany of injuries over the past few seasons, from a car accident, to shoulder surgery, to a foot injury costing him his 2019. Newton has been through the highest highs and lowest lows in the league. However, he is still just 31 and presumably healthy according to reports that came out a month ago. If this is true, there is no reason for this studly dual-threat to be a free agent. The upside alone is insane to keep away from your team unless you are absolutely set at QB. There are not many teams left with clear holes at the position but Newton came out and said that he would be open to a back-up job. However, the fact remains that it is hard to believe that the Patriots are truly comfortable rolling out Jarrett Stidham as their starter in Week 1 and it is not crazy to think that Belichick brings Newton in the building with a team-friendly deal. Nevertheless, fantasy-wise we are being presented a gift extremely late in the draft. Newton has QB1 potential when healthy and even if he isn't completely his elite self he is startable due to his rushing ability. Draft Newton as a backup in all of your drafts and drop him if he ends up as a back-up later on. Probably don't have to reach either given how low his ADP is.--Kev Mahserejian
