Cam Akers To Be Big Part Of Offense

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that running back Cam Akers is "going to be a huge part of what we're doing moving forward." Akers had a promising rookie season with 748 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns, but he tore his Achilles before training camp in 2021 and missed almost the entire year. He had 903 total yards and seven TDs last year, but he was unhappy with his role and requested a trade. The Rams and Akers appear to have made up heading into 2023, though, and he ended last year on a three-game streak of 100-yard games. The 23-year-old former second-rounder should be LA's lead back this year, with only sixth-rounder Zach Evans potentially challenging him for touches.
