2 years agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calin Ridley's reinstatement has positioned him to register his first offensive snaps since October of 2021. His return will also reignite a career that includes a 2020 breakout season, a requested leave of absence in 2021, and a suspension for gambling on the NFL that sidelined him throughout 2022. Ridley's hiatus halted the statistical momentum achieved when he finished fourth with an average of 15.8 points per game during his exceptional 2020 season and soared to the league lead in air yards (2,018) and yards before the catch (1,099). Ridley also vaulted to fourth in receiving yards (1,374/91.6 per game) and seventh in targets (143/9.5 per game), while accumulating nine touchdowns. Ridley's ADP skyrocketed to 14 (WR4) during 2021 best ball drafts, but he failed to match those expectations during an uninspiring five-game season. However, he now reemerges in an ascending offense that will be guided by Trevor Lawrence. Only four teams distributed a higher percentage of targets to their wide receivers than the Jaguars in 2022 (64.2%), and Ridley should join Christian Kirk in functioning as Lawrence's top two weapons. Ridley will turn 29 in December and is unlikely to replicate the numbers that he delivered in 2020. However, he should minimally operate as a high-end WR3 which justifies his selection in Round 5 of best ball drafts.
