Cal Quantrill Activated And Starting Friday
1 year agoThe Cleveland Guardians activated right-hander Cal Quantrill (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list on Friday, and he will make the start against the Tampa Bay Rays. Only desperate fantasy managers should be considering using Quantrill in their starting lineups in his first game back in a tough matchup. The 28-year-old Canadian hasn't pitched in the big leagues in two months due to right-shoulder inflammation, and he had a 6.45 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 22 walks and 38 strikeouts in 67 innings pitched over 13 starts for Cleveland before landing on the injured list. In five minor-league rehab starts for Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus, he wasn't much better, allowing 15 earned runs on 24 hits (four homers) while walking nine and striking out 17 in 22 2/3 frames.
