C.J. Stroud Could Slide In First Round
2 years agoAlabama quarterback Bryce Young is the overwhelming favorite to go No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers in the first round of this year's NFL draft on Thursday night. But with the Houston Texans now expected to target one of the top edge rushers instead of a QB, Ohio State's C.J. Stroud could find himself without an early landing spot. The Detroit Lions (No. 6) and Las Vegas Raiders (No. 7) are expected to entertain the thought of drafting a QB if Stroud is there, but they might prefer an instant-impact pick on defense instead. "I think his slide could be similar to [Justin] Fields' and he went at 11," one league executive said. "There's no way [Stroud] gets past Tennessee at that spot. With [Ryan] Tannehill entering his last year of the deal, it makes sense."
