Buster Posey Day-To-Day With Thumb Contusion
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey (thumb) has been diagnosed with a left thumb contusion after X-rays came back negative. Posey was hit on the thumb by a foul ball on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks and was forced to leave in the sixth inning, but fantasy managers should consider the All-Star backup day-to-day for now. He isn't expected to play on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals, but Posey could be back as early as Tuesday. The 34-year-old has been excellent this year, so it looks like the Giants and fantasy managers were able to dodge a bullet here. Posey is slashing .328/.421/.547 with 12 home runs, 35 runs scored and 28 RBI in 201 at-bats this year and was selected as the starting catcher for the National League in next week's All-Star game.
