Bud Cauley Struggling To Find Form Ahead Of Wyndham
8 months agoBud Cauley's return to the PGA Tour this year has been an uplifting story for golf fans, but fantasy managers should steer clear of him at the Wyndham Championship. The 34-year-old University of Alabama alum was unfortunately forced to take a three-plus year hiatus following various injuries stemming from a car accident in 2018, and he'll be making his 11th appearance since his comeback started in back in early February. In his previous 10 starts, Cauley has missed five cuts with zero top-20 finishes. In a more recent snapshot dating back to May, he's missed the cut in three out of his last five starts, with his other two results being a T52 and a T61. While Cauley did post a T15 in his last Wyndham Championship start in 2020, it's clear that the former Tour stalwart can't be trusted based on what we've seen from him during his remarkable comeback story.

Bud Cauley Trying To Keep Good Times Rolling
2 weeks agoBud Cauley netted a top-six result last week at The Players Championship. The American golfer was in contention until a Sunday 74 dropped him a few spots back. Cauley has some value in that he ranks highly in several strokes-gained metrics. His downfall is driving accuracy, which is a mere 53.17% (157th). If his driver works decently well, Cauley could be a factor. His 69.17 scoring average ranks 10th on the PGA Tour, and he is now plus-7,500 on DraftKings. Longer shots have fared really well over the last few years -- Peter Malnati won at plus-3,500 last year, so anything is possible. The course sets up reasonably well for Cauley, and that could make him a viable DFS choice this week.

Bud Cauley Withdraws From American Express
2 months agoBud Cauley withdrew from the American Express before his first-round tee time on Thursday and will be replaced in the field by Zac Blair. No reason was provided for Cauley's withdrawal. It is worth noting that Cauley was involved in a car accident in 2018, which resulted in six broken ribs, a collapsed right lung, and a fractured left leg.

Bud Cauley Looking To Make Third Consecutive Cut
1 year agoBud Cauley will be making his third PGA Tour start following a three-plus year layoff following injuries stemming from a car accident. Impressively, he made the cut in his previous two starts, including a 65th-place finish at the WM Phoenix Open and a T21 at the Cognizant Classic. He's also reportedly had the upper hand in recent money games in South Florida with his lifelong friend, Justin Thomas. The former top-ranked junior and University of Alabama standout certainly has the pedigree and Tour track record to be a consideration for fantasy managers, but he carries significant risk with the lack of recent data to rely on. And while he does have a T16 to his name at Innisbrook back in 2012, his three most recent Valspar starts between 2017 and 2019 ended with a T58 and back-to-back missed cuts. Cauley contending over the weekend would a great feel-good-story for fans, but fantasy managers may want to look for value elsewhere in the $6,000-range on DraftKings.
