Buccaneers Defense Loses Vita Vea To Broken Ankle
4 years agoUpdating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians confirmed on Friday that defensive tackle Vita Vea suffered a season-ending broken ankle in the Thursday night loss to the Bears. It's a huge blow to Tampa's run defense, as Vea was one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL. His combination of size, speed and strength made him one of the most efficient run-stoppers in the league through the first five games of the 2020 season. Vea had recorded two sacks and 10 tackles through five games, adding three quarterback hits and three tackles for loss. He had a sack and three tackles on Thursday against Chicago. Rakeem Nunez-Roches should see more time in the trenches next to Ndamukong Suh and William Gholston with Vea out the rest of the way.
