Bryce Harper Hoping To Discuss Another Long-Term Deal
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper is hoping to discuss a contract extension with the club to stay with the team for the rest of his career. It was reported earlier this offseason that the Phillies also want to keep Harper around for the rest of his career, and we could have resolution on something before the start of the 2024 season. The 31-year-old superstar signed a 13-year deal with the Phils in 2019, but apparently both sides are interested in extending that out even further. Harper had Tommy John surgery last offseason and got a late start in 2023 as a result, but it didn't slow the seven-time All-Star down, as he hit .293/.401/.499 with a .900 OPS, 21 home runs, 72 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 126 regular-season games in 2023 in his fifth year with the team. He will be the team's primary first baseman moving forward.
