Bryce Harper Could Play First Base Before All-Star Break
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson isn't putting a timeline on it, but it's possible that outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper (elbow) plays first base before the All-Star break. Harper returned earlier than expected to designated-hitter duties for the Phillies in 2023 after having Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. The 30-year-old has been working at first base before games of late and sounds ready to make his debut there soon. He's never started at first base at any level of his career, although it's possible that he could gain eligibility there for the second half of the season. The two-time MVP remains a must-start in fantasy lineups, regardless of position, and he's currently batting .278 (50-for-180) with three home runs, 10 doubles, 20 RBI, five steals and 28 runs scored in 48 games played.
