Browns Waive Lonnie Phelps
6 months agoThe Cleveland Browns waived defensive end Lonnie Phelps on Thursday after he was charged with drunken driving on Wednesday night after police said he crashed his SUV into a Florida restaurant. Phelps is also facing a charge for damaging property following the incident at the Red Shoe Island Bistro in Key West. The 23-year-old was taken into custody after refusing to cooperate with police officers. Phelps signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent in March of last year and spent the entire season on their practice squad before signing a reserve/futures contract with the team this January. He played his college ball at Miami (Ohio) from 2019 to 2021 and then at Kansas in 2022. Phelps had 23 sacks and 29.5 tackles for loss in 41 career collegiate games.
