Broncos Trading For Joe Flacco
6 years agoThe Denver Broncos agreed in principle on a trade with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday to acquire quarterback Joe Flacco, according to league sources. The trade can't officially be processed until the new NFL league year begins on March 13. When the deal is officially completed it will likely be for a mid-round pick. Baltimore will save $10.5 million in salary cap space with the move, but they will also carry $16 million in dead money in 2019. New Broncos head coach Vic Fangio was with Flacco for one season in Baltimore, so they have a short history together. The 34-year-old was benched in favor of rookie Lamar Jackson in Baltimore this year and has looked extremely mediocre in recent seasons. He's won a Super Bowl MVP, though, and is arguably a slight upgrade on Case Keenum, who is now likely to be released. Denver will try to win with the running game and defense, so Flacco will remain a mediocre QB2 target as he returns to a starting role with a new team.
