Broncos To Hire New General Manager
4 years agoAfter 10 years as the general manager of the Denver Broncos, John Elway is taking an elevated role with the team and will hire a general manager, giving him final say on personnel, according to a source. Elway will stay on as the president of football operations while the new GM works closely with head coach Vic Fangio. Elway, in his time as the GM, helped Denver to almost 100 wins and a Super Bowl championship. Elway won five straight division titles when he first became the team's GM, and his .565 winning percentage (96-74) ranks fourth in the league among current GMs. But since quarterback Peyton Manning retired after their Super Bowl win, the Broncos have had four straight losing seasons. Quarterback Drew Lock's and pass-rusher Von Miller's future will not be dictated to the new hire, according to Elway.
