Broncos Defense Stands Firm Against Titans
4 years agoThe Denver Broncos Defense allowed Titans running back Derrick Henry to run for over 100 yards on the ground in the Monday night loss, but they held the league's rushing leader in 2019 to 3.7 yards per carry on his 31 rushing attempts. Missing defensive captain Von Miller (ankle), Denver's D held their own but didn't allow any turnovers while generating one sack against Ryan Tannehill. A.J. Johnson led the team with eight total tackles. The interior line looked solid against the run with Mike Purcell and Jurrell Casey doing the heavy lifting. Cornerback A.J. Bouye went down with an injury in the first half and never returned, leaving the Denver secondary vulnerable with two youngsters in Essang Bassey and Michael Ojemudia. The Broncos defense has potential to be a starting fantasy unit all year long but will face a stiff test in the Steelers in Week 2.
