Broncos Add Mike Boone To Backfield
4 years agoThe Denver Broncos signed former Minnesota Vikings running back Mike Boone to a two-year deal with $2.6 million guaranteed, according to a source. Boone will receive a $1.6 million signing bonus. The 25-year-old hit the open market when the Vikings didn't tender him as a restricted free agent. Boone should be a special teams contributor and will also have a chance to compete with Royce Freeman for the No. 2 role behind Melvin Gordon III after Phillip Lindsay and the Broncos mutually agreed to part ways. In 40 career games in Minnesota, Boone had 71 carries for 379 yards and four touchdowns. He will reunite with new general manager George Paton after Paton served previously as the Vikings assistant general manager.
