Brewers Re-Sign Colin Rea To One-Year Contract
1 year agoThe Milwaukee Brewers re-signed right-hander Colin Rea to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday that includes a team option for the 2025 season. In by far his most extensive work in his fifth year in the big leagues, Rea went 6-6 in his first full season in Milwaukee and also had a 4.55 ERA (4.90 FIP), 1.19 WHIP, 38 walks and 110 strikeouts in 124 2/3 innings of work over 26 appearances (22 starts). Given the injury to right-handed starter Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) that is likely to sideline him for all of 2024, Rea will have a legitimate chance to open the regular season next year as a full member of the Brew Crew's starting rotation. The 33-year-old will be a depth option for fantasy managers in deeper formats if that ends up being the case.
