Brett Rypien Does Little In Loss To Jets
2 years agoAs expected, Denver Broncos backup quarterback Brett Rypien didn't light up the box score in the 16-9 loss to the New York Jets in Week 7 with Russell Wilson (hamstring) sidelined. Rypien finished the game 24-for-46 for 225 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. He was sacked one time and carried the ball three times for just nine yards. Nobody was expecting Rypien to be a savior for a Broncos offense that entered the weekend as the lowest-scoring unit in football. But he was able to keep the Broncos in the game against a surging Jets team and led a potential game-tying drive that fell just short in the fourth quarter. It remains to be seen if Wilson will return from a partially torn hamstring for the London game in Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but if Rypien makes another start, he'll be nothing more than a desperation low-end QB2 in superflex leagues.
