3 years agoNew York Mets third baseman Brett Baty, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was promoted to Double-A Binghamton on Saturday. Baty earned the call-up by hitting .309/.397/.514 with seven home runs, 27 runs scored, 34 RBI and four steals in seven attempts in 51 games at High-A Brooklyn. The 21-year-old left-handed hitter has above-average power to all fields and also employs a patient approach at the plate. Baty was a three-sport standout in high school, so the athleticism is there, but he'll need some more time to develop on both sides of the ball before he'll be a realistic option at the major league level.
