Brendan McKay Makes Hitting Debut Monday
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays hitter/pitcher Brendan McKay will make his hitting debut against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. He threw six scoreless innings versus the Texas Rangers on Saturday. McKay wasn't too impressive with the bat in the minors, but we'll see what he can do in the MLB. He'll bat eighth and serve as the designated hitter versus righty Thomas Eshelman. McKay should be added in just about every fantasy league.

Brendan McKay Faces Live Hitters Tuesday
1 year agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Brendan McKay (elbow) successfully threw live batting practice Tuesday, the first time he had pitched to hitters since August of 2022. The former fourth overall pick in the 2017 draft has endured several injuries, the latest being Tommy John surgery in September of 2022. McKay is at camp as a non-roster invitee and has a long way to get in shape to pitch in the big leagues again, but his pedigree and the way the Rays manage their pitching staff could make him worth monitoring throughout the season. He may have the opportunity to become fantasy-relevant at some point.
