Brandon Lowe Resting Against Cardinals
1 year agoTampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe is not in the starting lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals and left-hander Matthew Liberatore on Thursday in the series finale. Isaac Paredes will play the keystone and bat fifth, with Curtis Mead at the hot corner and batting seventh against Liberatore. Lowe has just 26 at-bats against southpaws this year and has four hits against them (no homers) for a .154 average. The 29-year-old left-handed hitter appears to be past a disc issue in his back and has hit .258 (23-for-89) with six home runs, five doubles, 16 RBI, two steals and 12 runs scored in 27 games (25 starts) since returning from the injured list on July 4. Lowe probably isn't going to hit for average the rest of the way, but his power at second base can be pretty useful.
