Brandon Lowe Remains Out On Monday
6 months agoTampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (toe) remains out of the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting Seattle Mariners. Richie Palacios will take his place at second base and will bat fifth against Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo. It's not that big of a surprise that Lowe is still sidelined after fracturing his right pinkie toe when he was hit by a pitch in Saturday's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. For now, the Rays and the 29-year-old are hoping that he can avoid a trip to the injured list, but we'll see how long that lasts. The former third-round selection in 2015 out of Maryland still has intriguing pop from the second base position, but injuries continue to get in the way. Lowe is hitting only .217 (25-for-115) on the year with five homers, 22 RBI and 17 runs scored. Palacios is mainly useful for his speed (11 stolen bases) in deeper fantasy leagues.
