Brandon Belt Sitting Against Southpaw
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman Brandon Belt is retreating to the bench on Saturday with the Cleveland Guardians starting left-hander Logan Allen. Bo Bichette is getting a day off his feet and will serve as the designated hitter and bat in the two-hole, while Santiago Espinal is starting at shortstop and batting eighth against Allen. It's not a surprise that Belt is on the bench despite his recent hot streak at the plate. The 35-year-old veteran left-handed slugger has just 22 plate appearances against lefties all year and has hit four of his 19 home runs against them. Belt is having a decent season in his first year in Toronto and has gone 6-for-21 in his last six games with four home runs, six RBI and four runs scored.
