Brad Keller Struggles Against Tampa
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Brad Keller put up an ugly outing on Monday as he faced the Rays for the second straight time. Everything went wrong for Keller as he walked three, only struck out one, and surrendered five earned runs in five innings of work. Manager Ned Yost told reporters afterwards that Keller was so off on his spots that catcher Martin Maldonado was struggling just to actually catch the pitches at all. Keller's control is critical since he barely strikes anyone out, and so far this season, his control has been atrocious. His walk rate of 4.93/9 is terrible, and when combined with his strikeout rate of 6.43/9, it's absolutely unable to be overcome. Unless he can get those two numbers headed in different directions, Keller will be dreadful this year.
