Boston To Split Up Rafael Devers, Masataka Yoshida In Lineup
2 years agoBoston Red Sox skipper Alex Cora said that the team is hoping to split up third baseman Rafael Devers and new outfielder Masataka Yoshida in this year's batting lineup, so Devers isn't expected to hit second. The left-handed-hitting Yoshida is expected to serve as Boston's primary leadoff guy in 2023, which means Devers will likely hit in the No. 3 spot to avoid having left-handers back-to-back at the top of the order. Devers, one of the best hitters in all of baseball, signed an 11-year, $331 million contract extension this offseason to remain in Beantown for the long term. The 26-year-old has been an All-Star each of the last two seasons and hit .287/.355/.530 with 65 home runs, 201 RBI, 185 runs scored and eight stolen bases in the last two years. He's ranked 20th overall in RotoBaller's 2023 fantasy baseball rankings.
