The Toronto Blue Jays selected Florida State pitcher CJ Van Eyk with the fifth pick of the second round (42nd overall) in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Van Eyk spent his freshman year in the bullpen but made a nice transition to the rotation as a sophomore at Florida State. He has a three-pitch mix that includes a mid-90s fastball that he can locate to both sides of the plate and a 12-6 curveball. Van Eyk has a good feel for mixing his pitches and could become a complete pitcher at the next level because of his ability to keep hitters off-balance. The 21-year-old right-hander had some command issues early this spring, but it wasn't a huge red flag.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
