4 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox are among a half-dozen teams that are interested in free-agent utility man Marwin Gonzalez. The 31-year-old could prove to be a valuable utility man for a contending team. The New York Mets have also been rumored to be interested in him this offseason. The Blue Jays infield and outfield is stacked after the additions of George Springer and Marcus Semien in free agency, but Gonzalez would provide veteran leadership and plenty of versatility to allow Toronto to keep their players fresh throughout the season. The switch-hitter could be a left-handed complement to Springer, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Teoscar Hernandez and Randal Grichuk in the outfield, as they all swing from the right side. The 31-year-old hit only .211/.286/.320 with five home runs in the shortened 2020 season, but Gonzalez brings more real-life value than fantasy appeal, especially if he were to land in Toronto.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
