Blaze Jordan, Wikelman Gonzalez Being Promoted To Double-A
1 year agoThe Boston Red Sox will promote corner infielder Blaze Jordan and right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez to Double-A Portland after this week's All-Star break. Jordan's promotion comes after he hit .324/.385/.533 with a .918 OPS, 12 homers, 22 doubles, a triple, 55 RBI and 48 runs scored in 73 games for High-A Greenville. Meanwhile, Gonzalez had a 5.14 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 42 walks and 105 K's in 63 innings over 15 starts at the same level. Jordan, the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is still only 20 years old, so he still has some more developing to do down on the farm and probably isn't a candidate to make his big-league debut until 2024, at the earliest. Gonzalez, 21, uses a three-pitch mix of a fastball, curve and changeup, but he'll need to throw more strikes in Double-A. He's the team's No. 11 prospect.
