Blake Snell Forecasts 150-180 Innings In 2021
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Blake Snell forecast 150 to 180 innings "and then the postseason" coming off the shortened 2020 season. The 28-year-old left-hander won the American League Cy Young Award in 2018 with a career-high 180 2/3 innings. The Padres may be more open-minded toward using Snell beyond some of his previous limits -- he's only pitched beyond the sixth inning twice since 2018 -- but San Diego will be cautious with all their starters at the beginning of the season. Snell has thrown just 157 innings over the last two seasons, so he'll surely be on a short least in 2021, at least early on. Despite the expected innings limit for the southpaw, the 28-year-old should pile up strikeouts and wins for a much-improved Padres squad. Draft Snell as a high-end SP2 with upside.
