Billy McKinney Designated For Assignment
Billy McKinney for assignment on Friday to make room on the roster for third baseman J.D. Davis (finger). McKinney becomes the odd man out on a crowded Mets roster. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter batted just .213 with a .282 on-base percentage, but he also had eight home runs, 20 RBI and two stolen bases in 183 at-bats in his time with New York and the Milwaukee Brewers. There's a good chance the he's claimed on waivers by a team in need of outfield depth at the major league level.
