Billy McKinney Designated For Assignment
3 years agoThe New York Mets designated outfielder Billy McKinney for assignment on Friday to make room on the roster for third baseman J.D. Davis (finger). McKinney becomes the odd man out on a crowded Mets roster. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter batted just .213 with a .282 on-base percentage, but he also had eight home runs, 20 RBI and two stolen bases in 183 at-bats in his time with New York and the Milwaukee Brewers. There's a good chance the he's claimed on waivers by a team in need of outfield depth at the major league level.
