Billy Hamilton Finally Steals A Base?
6 years agoKansas City Royals outfielder Billy Hamilton is nothing if not fast, but recently, he's suddenly become surprisingly hesitant to run. Hamilton stolen second in the 10th inning of Sunday's extra-inning victory over the Yankees, and that's seems logical, but it was actually Hamilton's first stolen base in 20 days. The next thought would be that maybe Hamilton has been slumping or he finally got caught a couple times, but he actually reached base 12 times in that span and wasn't caught a single time. He simply wasn't stealing. Now while the lack of running is concerning, there are actually a lot of parts of Hamilton's profile that should excite owners. His OBP os .309 is the highest he's had in four years, he's walking more often than he ever has, and he's still on pace to steal over 30 bases this year. That said, it looks like the 50+ steal seasons are a thing of the past. Owners should check out Adalberto Mondesi for a KC player who will do that.
