Bill O'Brien A Primary Target For Patriots
2 years agoFormer Penn State and Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien is a primary target for the New England Patriots vacant offensive coordinator position. O'Brien also formerly served as the offensive coordinator for Alabama and the Patriots. NBC Sports Boston's Tom E. Curran thinks it would be an upset if O'Brien didn't get the job, especially considering his familiarity with quarterback Mac Jones. Matt Patricia and Joe Judge are expected to be assigned to other roles on the coaching staff. The Patriots offense struggled under Patricia and Judge in 2022, and Jones took a notable step back in his second NFL season. The Pats offense put up only 314.6 total yards per game (seventh-lowest), 106.6 rushing yards per game (ninth-lowest) and 21.4 points per game this year.
