Bengals Reach Deal With Trey Hendrickson
4 years agoThe Cincinnati Bengals agreed to a four-year, $60 million deal with free-agent defensive end Trey Hendrickson on Monday night, according to a source. The deal includes $32 million over the first two years for the former New Orleans Saints standout defender. The Bengals ranked last in the NFL in sacks with 17 last season, so they're hoping Hendrickson can boost those numbers. But Cincy also lost defensive end Carl Lawson, who had 10.5 sacks in 2020, when he signed with the Jets on Monday. The 26-year-old Hendrickson tied for second in the NFL with 13.5 sacks in his breakout season last year. He also ranked sixth with 53 pressures and 37 hurries despite playing in 15 games and less than 60 percent of the defensive snaps. The former third-rounder played in just 17 games in his first two seasons with the Saints and didn't make his first career start until late in the 2019 season.
