Bears Unlikely To Fire Matt Nagy Midseason
3 years agoThere have been false rumors circulating this week that the Chicago Bears Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions on Thursday could be his last game with the team. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, barring something unforeseen, it's unlikely that the Bears will fire Nagy in the middle of the 2021 season. Nagy is expected to get "considerable rope" through the end of the season, and Chicago traditionally hasn't been an organization that fires coaches in the middle of a season. Bears owner George McCaskey met with Nagy and the players this week to tell them that the rumor of Nagy's firing was false. But the Bears are 3-7 and on a five-game losing streak entering their Week 12 matchup with the winless Lions. If they lose on Thanksgiving, the Nagy rumors will only heat up.
