Bears Place Justin Fields On COVID-19 List
3 years agoThe Chicago Bears placed rookie quarterback Justin Fields on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday. Fields tested positive for the virus but is vaccinated, so there's a chance he could clear the league's COVID protocols and play in the Week 18 regular season finale on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. However, with his positive test coming this late in the week, it's unlikely that the 22-year-old will be active to close out his first season in the NFL. The 11th overall pick had an up-and-down rookie season, going 159-for-270 for 1,870 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 72 carries for 420 yards and two more TDs. With better weapons around him and a better coaching staff to guide him, Fields could develop into a successful franchise QB in Chicago. Heading into next season, he'll be a high-end QB2 target with QB1 upside. Expect veteran Andy Dalton to start under center in Week 18 if Fields isn't cleared.
