Bears Don't Want A Bell-Cow Back?
2 years agoThe Chicago Bears still like running back Khalil Herbert despite selecting rookie Roschon Johnson in the fourth round of this year's draft. Herbert averaged 5.7 yards per carry last season, which was more than David Montgomery. But their fondness for Herbert didn't prevent them from trying to extend Montgomery or later signing veteran D'Onta Foreman to a one-year deal. Johnson might not be a bell-cow back, but the Bears don't want a bell-cow back for their offense right now. The Athletic's Adam Jahns writes that Chicago wants a wave of backs. The Bears like Johnson's versatility in the backfield, and it certainly sounds like this will be a timeshare backfield between Herbert, Johnson and Foreman in 2023, which is bad news for fantasy managers looking to invest here.
