Austin Slater Going For MRI On Calf
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Austin Slater (calf) is getting an MRI exam on Friday for his calf injury. Slater was removed from Thursday's Cactus League game early as a precautionary measure with a left-calf cramp. We'll have a better idea of when he might be able to return to the spring lineup after his MRI, but this doesn't seem like a very serious injury. The 30-year-old has also dealt with right elbow neuritis in camp and has played in just three games, going 2-for-9 with a double, four RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases in 11 plate appearances. Speed is probably Slater's biggest asset in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues, but he'll have limited upside in an outfield platoon role against left-handed pitching.
