Austin Nola Catching A Bullpen Friday
3 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Austin Nola (knee) has not started a rehab assignment yet, but he is catching a bullpen session on Friday. Nola has made slow progress from his sprained knee, but it looks like he's slowly getting there. However, don't expect him to return before the All-Star break at the rate he's going at. The 31-year-old has played in just 18 games this year due to a fractured hand and the sprained knee, slashing .217/.373/.326 with a home run and 11 RBI in 59 plate appearances. Nola will once again be relevant in two-catcher leagues when he's healthy, but there remains no timetable for his return. The switch-hitting Victor Caratini has held down the starting duties in his absence. He has six home runs in 174 at-bats but is also hitting just .213 with a .310 on-base percentage.
