Seattle Seahawks starting center Austin Blythe, who was scheduled to hit free agency on March 15, announced his retirement on Tuesday at the age of 30 on his official Instagram account. Blythe was originally drafted in the seventh round in 2016 by the Indianapolis Colts out of the University of Iowa. He played just one year in Indy before spending the next four years of his career with the Los Angeles Rams. Blythe played the 2021 campaign with the Kansas City Chiefs and finished things off in Seattle in 2022. Over the course of his seven-year NFL career, Blythe played in 92 games (66 starts).
