Antti Raanta Picks Up A Lower-Body Injury
3 years agoCarolina Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta left Monday's Game 7 loss to the Rangers with a lower-body injury. He appeared to have hurt his groin muscle early in the second period when he stretched to save an effort on goal from Mika Zibanejad. Raanta gave up a pair of power-play goals on 18 shots before leaving. Pyotr Kochetkov took over in goal and didn't have a good night as the Hurricanes' season ended when the 22-year-old allowed three goals on 12 shots. Raanta had a solid postseason as Frederik Andersen's (lower body) replacement, posting a 6-5 record with a 2.26 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage. He was even unbeaten at home before Monday's action. The 33-year-old has proven himself as a very good goalie, but he's been very injury-prone throughout his career and will now head into the offseason also nursing an ailment.
