Anthony Rizzo Could Hit Second In Lineup
5 years agoChicago Cubs manager David Ross hinted that first baseman Anthony Rizzo could be the team's No. 2 hitter this year. Ross announced on Wednesday that he plans to have third baseman Kris Bryant hit in the leadoff spot. Having the team's best two hitters at the top of the order makes sense, although it could cut down on their RBI opportunities in the long run. Rizzo is one of the most consistent first baseman in baseball, and he hit .293/.405/.520 with 27 home runs, 94 RBI and five stolen bases in 146 games in 2019. After a run of four straight years with 30-plus homers, Rizzo hasn't reached that mark in the last two seasons, and last year also ended a four-year stretch of 100-plus RBI. Still, he's an elite fantasy first baseman and should come off the board in the early rounds.
