Angels Not In On Trevor Bauer
The Los Angeles Angels have been searching for an ace for their starting rotation for years, with virtually no success. They continue to search for a front-line starter, but free-agent right-hander Trevor Bauer, who won the National League Cy Young in 2020, is unlikely to land with the Halos. The 29-year-old had a 1.73 ERA and a 12.3 K/9 and is a Southern California native, but he's not a great fit with the Angels, even if they were to offer him the record-setting annual value of over $36 million, according to people with knowledge of the team's thinking. Bauer worked with current pitching coach Mickey Callaway in Cleveland from 2013-17, and the did not get along. Their relationship is believed to be eroded beyond repair, so it looks as though the Angels won't be a landing spot for the most coveted arm on the free-agent market this offseason.
