Andrew McCutchen Feeling Normal Again
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Andrew McCutchen said he finally feels normal this spring after tearing the ACL in his left knee in June of 2019. Manager Joe Girardi no longer notices a limp, and coaches see improved quickness in McCutchen. The 34-year-old isn't being stretched out by trainers for 30 minutes before each practice this spring, which has been a relief for him. Despite no designated hitter in the National League this year, McCutchen still expects to play regularly in left field. He hit .253 with 10 home runs, 34 RBI and a .757 OPS last year. His slugging percentage (.433) remained in line with his previous four seasons, while his on-base percentage (.324) dropped significantly from .358. Cutch is no longer in his prime, but he can still provide moderate numbers across the board as a late-round pick one more year removed from his knee injury.
