Andrew Abbott To Make MLB Debut Monday
2 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds are calling up pitching prospect Andrew Abbott from Triple-A Louisville, and he will make his major-league debut and start against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. Manager David Bell said that this isn't just a spot start for Abbott, so fantasy managers in mixed leagues should absolutely take a chance on Abbott if he's available on your league's waiver wire. Per MLB Pipeline, the 24-year-old left-hander is the team's No. 6 prospect. He had a 2.50 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 90 strikeouts in just 54 innings in 10 starts with Double-A Chattanooga and Louisville before earning the call-up. Given all the injuries to Cincy's starting rotation, there's a very real chance that Abbott sticks around the rest of the year if he performs well.
