Andrelton Simmons Has Mild COVID-19 Symptoms
4 years agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Andrelton Simmons, who was placed on the league's COVID-19 list on Wednesday, is said to have very mild symptoms of the virus. It's a good sign, as Simmons could be able to clear the league's health and safety protocols in short order. Until he's able to return, Jorge Polanco and Luis Arraez should split shortstop duties in Minnesota. Simmons has 11 hits (three doubles) and three RBI in 31 at-bats (.355 average) in his first 10 games as a Twin, so this is certainly bad timing for the glove-first shortstop. The good news is that he should be back in short order, but this could disrupt his momentum. With some modest power and speed to contribute offensively, the 31-year-old Simmons is mainly used for middle infield depth in AL-only leagues.
